DESIGNING

I used all the research and tried to incorporate my inspirations into my designs.  This step was completed during the winter holidays.  These are some of them. First I experimented with the pens and drawing clothes on bodies (mannequins) Throughout the process of my sketching it is visible that I improved.  Look at the labels beneath in order to view my improvements.  I drew many different types of clothes from jogging pants to t-shirts to cardigans to dresses.  Now I only have to find someone who can sew my clothes for me and teach me for an adequate price.

THIS IS THE DRESS I AM WEARING IN THE PICTURES BELOW AND ABOVE.

THE BOTTOM OF THE DRESS WOULD BE MADE OUT OF A RED FLOWY SILK.  TO MAKE SURE THAT IT RIPPLES LIKE THAT YOU HAVE TO PULL THE FABRIC ALONG THE THREAD AND BUNCH IT UP ALONG THE TOP.

SPORTSWEAR

I decided to have only dresses made because the are basically an entire outfit.  each piece of clothing costs 80 Euro to be made so I picked 4 dresses which I will be wearing to parties, prom and other outings.  They are all very different from one another, so I can learn many new and different cuts.  Now I have to plan my time wisely and make sure I can learn as much as possible in the minimal time left.

HERE ONE CAN SEE THE TULLE, WHICH IS NOW BEIGE COMING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE DRESS.  ABOUT 2 CM SHOW WHEN STANDING NORMALLY.  I HAD TO ADJUST SOME CHANGES TO MY DESIGN BECAUSE SOME OF THE CUTS WERE NOT POSSIBLE TO MAKE IN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME AND WOULD HAVE COST TO MUCH TO MAKE.  THEREFORE I HAD TO KEEP THE DESIGN SIMPLER, BUT I THINK THAT THIS WAS ACTUALLY A GOOD DECISION, SINCE THESE EXTRA CUTS WITH TULLE WOULD HAVE BEEN WAY TOO MUCH AND MIGHT HAVE RUINED THE ELEGANCE OF THE DRESS.

THE TOP OF THE DRESS IS MADE TO TIGHTLY FIT AROUND THE BODY WHILST THE SKIRT IS RUFFLED AT THE SEAM.  THE STRAPS ARE NOT SEWN ONTO THE DRESS BUT ARE PART OF THE SAME PIECE OF FABRIC. AT ONE POINT OF THE PROJECT THEY WERE TOO WIDE AND I TOLD SOYA THAT THEY HAD TO BE SLIMMER, BUT NOT TO SLIM, BECAUSE THAT WOULD NOT MAKE IT BE THE SAME DRESS AS WHAT I WANTED IT TO BE.  THE INSIDE OF THE TOP IS LINED WITH RED COTTON, WHILST THE OUTSIDE IS SILK.  THIS IS TO STABILIZE THE DRESS.  ONE CAN SEE THE SEAMS, WHICH CONNECT THE OUTSIDE PIECE TO THE INSIDE PIECE IN THE INSIDE OF THE DRESS.

This is me getting my picture taken.  As you can see my designs differ from Soyas own designs, yet, she has asked me to make several designs for her during summer vacation, which she can make and present at a wedding/fashion show.

IDeas for the Unmade 5th dress

LOOKING AT FABRICS FOR A 5th dress

I wanted to make a 5th dress.  It was going to be blue with a flower skirt.  yet, I could not find the right fabric that would represent the 3D flowers I wanted it to have and it would have been a lot of work for soya to make all of the flowers and then sow it onto the skirt.  Therefore I did not make the dress, because I did not want it to be a different dress than what I had designed it to be.

BLOG TITLE

I have had many people ask me why I called my blog "clueless much?" Here is the background of my title.  As I researched the blogs of many young girls I found that they used very bizarre, but interesting titles such as "The Limits of Control", "Chloe Rose", "Birds of a Feather Flock together", etc.  I spent a long time trying to come up with a suitable and interesting title that was somewhat unique and personal.  And since I just could think of anything I left sitting there infront of my computer looking very clueless thinking to myself "clueless much?"  I then discovered that this title suited my blog quite well because as we moved further into the project I at first was clueless and undecisive about what topic to pick, what materials I would need, what it takes to design a collection, how much work and skill it takes to be able to sew professionally and a lot more. :)

Unfortunately, those of you who researched and created a performance based project did not want to perform for the WHOLE grade soooo the schedule for the evening has changed just a little.

Schedule for EXHIBITION

1700 - 1830 Project Set-up
1830 - 2030 Exhibition Open
2030 - 2100 Clean the space for school tomorrow

You will be assigned a location to set up your presentation. Please look at the notice board in the hallway to find out where you will be exhibiting your project.

PERSONAL FASHION BLOG?

I have used this blog like a diary throughout my project.  Many girls I know have their own fashion blogs with over 1000 followers.  I have decided that I like blogging and so maybe after this project is over I will continue using this blog as a personal fashion blog.  Hence, my picture as the header of the blog and pictures at the side.

SUMMER

Dear teachers, students, followers,

As the weather gets better and better outside, we come closer and closer to the due date and the termination of our project.  Although I will have completed the task for school, my interest in designing and my career as a designer will live on and I am hoping that even though our project is finished to continue designing, learning how to sew on my own and learning more and more about design and the fashion world in generall.  For now though, I am very pleased and very proud of the amount I have learnt throughout the project, the amount of people I got to know and the discoveries I have made.  Yet, presentation night has not yet arrived and there is a lot more work to complete. One of the major beneits of this blog is that it keeps track of when you completed what, so that for my timeline I can track back all my steps. :)

First of all I have to make my presentation boards
I have to complete my collages
I have to make a mind map for "HOW I HAVE BENEFITTED FROM THIS PROJECT"
I have to organize my sketchbook
I have to finish up some technical sketches
I have to finish up sewing on some buttons onto a jacket to propose an idea
I have to buy a camara
I have to go out for the photoshoot on monday
I have to sew tags into my dresses.

I am very much into the vintage look right now and I found some very nice pictures of Emma Watson having a vintage photoshoot on the vogue website.  The dresses and the entire atmosphere were a huge inspiration to me and my own designs.
