ASSESSING YOUR PERSONAL PROJECT
 Projects will be assessed by volunteer assessors and by Mrs. Kriss.  Students who earn a mean score of 3 from these assessments will receive a certificate of achievement.  Assessment scores will be included on the final grade 9 report card but not be calculated into any overall GPA.

There are FIVE broad criteria. Each criterion has four broad descriptors showing the levels you might reach.  The descriptor levels show Excellent (4), Good (3), Adequate (2), Weak (1)

1/ THE PROJECT PROPOSAL How well do you define what you intend to do? How clearly have you thought through your plans?  How exactly have you reported these?
           
            4    The student has clearly thought through all the elements of the proposal very thoroughly and described them very exactly
            3    The student has thought through most of the elements of the proposal quite thoroughly, and described them exactly
            2    The student has thought about some of the elements of the proposal and described them adequately
            1    The student has thought about only a few of the elements of the proposal and given very basic descriptions of these

2/  PLANNING AND EXPLANATION OF PROJECT – How well do you explain your project to the assessor on the evening of the exhbition?
           
            4    The student has plannned their project well, explained the use of materials and given a thoughtful explanation for the choice of project.
            3    The student has made satisfactory use of their time and chosen appropriate materials, resources and techniques; some thought has gone into the oral explanation of the project.
            2    The student has shown limited planning and chosen some appropriate materials, resources and techniques; some of the application of the techniques show some skill.
            1    The student has made no real attempt to plan their project or chosen  materials, resources or techniques which are appropriate to the project; there is little or no skill in applying any of the techniques.

3/  PRESENTATION OF PROJECT  How original and creative have you been in presenting your project on the exhibition evening?
         
          4     The student has presented the project in an original and thoughtful way.
          3     The student has made some effort to present the project in a thoughtful way.
          2     There is a basic level of presentaion.
          1     The student has made no attempt to present their project in a creative way.

4/    ANALYSIS OF PROCESS AND OUTCOME Have you included a thorough and thoughtful analysis of all aspect of the project in your Reflective Essay?
      
          4      The student has made a very thorough and thoughtful analysis of all aspects of the project, including the practical and personal elements, and evaluated the quality of the final product precisely, perceptively, and convincingly
         3       The student has made a sound analysis of most aspects of the project, including the practical and personal elements, and evaluated the quality of the final product convincingly
         2       The student has made a some analysis of some aspects of the project, including the practical and personal elements, and made some convincing evaluation of the quality of the final product.
         1       The student has made little analysis of the practical and personal elements of the project, and /or failed to evaluate the quality of the final product in any convincing way.


5/    PERSONAL ENGAGEMENT How well did you interact with the overall process of the Personal Project. 

          4      The student exceeded the expecations that were created for the Personal Project. Accurate and detailed self reflection is evident in the Process Journals. The overall work showed sophistication, maturity, independence, originality and flair. The student adhered to all given due dates.
          3      The student met the expecations that were created for the Personal Project, provided less detailed Process Journal entries. The overall work showed maturity, independence, originality. The student adhered to many of the project deadlines.
          2      The student met some of the expecations created for the Personal Project. Little evidence of reflection is found in the Process Journals. The overall work showed some maturity, independence and originality. The student adhered to less than half of the project deadlines.
          1     The student met few of the expectation created for the Personal Project. The overall work showed difficulties and a need for extra support.
