Dear Grade 9 students,

Now that you have completed your overall project plan, carefully describing what you intend your final project to look like, it is time to begin your work on step 4, 5 and 6 of the BIG 6 Research Process.  You have accessed your sources and now it is time to engage, in depth, with those sources.  Read and take notes, interview the expert and take notes, read, hear, view and touch the sources to extract information.  The more information you gather at this stage the better. Think back to your initial questions for investigation.  Have you located ALL of the information you need? If not, go out and get more.

It just might be that your gathering of information leads you in a different or new direction with your project.  Let your interest guide you at this point.  You CAN make adjustments to your project.  You will need to make a note and explain the reason for the change in your process journal.  This change will be noted on your display board at the presentation gala on March 10.

At this point in the project it would be good to assess yourself and how well you are managing the project.  Download the reflection survey, complete it to assess your project so far, and upload the document to the wiki as part of your process journal due January 14.

Remember you can email or come to see me at anytime for assistance with your project.  Please don’t wait until the end of January and then say to me that you didn’t know what to do.
