The aims of the personal project are to:
z Demonstrate the personal abilities and skills required to produce and present an extended piece of work
z Engage in personal inquiry, action and reflection on specific topics and issues
z Communicate with others about topics, issues, views and opinions
z Reflect on learning and share knowledge, views and opinions.
The development of these characteristics is a part of your education at FIS. The personal project is a terrific opportunity for you to ‘be’ these characteristics.
Product Ideas to Get You Started (not a complete list!)
· Original piece of Art/music/drama/a screenplay
· Original science experiment
· Organizational plan for a business Invention
· Create a sport or game
· Research an idea (e.g. how colors affect our moods)
Your project should be:
z Personal, original, individual, something you have a genuine interest in
Your project should not be:
z Part of any assessed school course work; bound by any specific subject; destroying your social or academic life!
Your project must:
z Be well recorded (in words and pictures) in your Journal as you develop it, as the process of doing/making your project is important, will be presented on project night and will be graded.
z Have a product.
z Conclude with a reflective essay (that will be assessed).
